It was in a pile of dirt that was pushed up against a stump.
Just after I found the tip, I saw Kathy walking towards me, while saying that she found something that "might be something."
She was kidding.
The only other intact piece we found was this tiny tool.
It looks like a knife / spokeshave to me. Spokeshaves were used to strip bark.
A beaver found our pear tree in the backyard. The previous home owners wired the base of the tree. So far he is just enjoying the fruit, not cutting any of our trees.
The area around the pear tree must look like a zoo at night. A neighbor saw a deer under the tree. Butterflies ...
... and crows are the only creatures we've seen in the daytime.
